September 2024 Newsletter
Hello All team Captains
This is the 7th of the results Mail shots for the 2024 season, And it’s 48 teams down to 2, 1144 different competitors over 6 months of competition and 110 matches played with only 1 to go before we find out who will be crowned Jubilee Cup champions 2024. Congratulations go to Crondon Park and Stockbrook Manor who won their respective semifinal match ups, with Stockbrook just showing you can get to the final coming second in your group playing a knockout match away from home. Well done to them. Commiserations must also go to the 2 losing semi finalists, Chigwell, who put up a very stout defence of their title and Upminster who make regular semi final appearances but are yet to crack that nut and get into a finals day shoot out. Next year gentleman, next year.
The semi finals where played in great spirit at Canonsbrook and Bentley golf clubs and the thanks of the Jubilee Cup committee and all 4 playing teams go to both those clubs for serving up not only excellent food and hospitality but also wonderful and challenging courses. It was my first trip to both venues and I thought they were both superb and in great condition. Thank you again. I have no doubt that I for one will be giving them a visit to play in the next 12 months.
The first Semi-final, Saturday 7th September proved ultimately to be one sided with Crondon running out comfortable winners but the early exchanges were much tighter than that. In the end however Chigwell ran out of gas and holes with Crondon Park being worthy winners.
The second Semi-final, Sunday 8th September was a much more exciting affair. Starting off with an absolute deluge in the hour before tee off. It looked like it might not even get started but 10 minutes before first tee the cloudburst ended, the photos and toss were done and play, amazingly, got off on time. Great drainage Bentley. The matches were incredibly tight for the most part, Stockbrook securing narrow leads in most matches and 6 matches were decided on the 18th green in gorgeous September sunshine with all worries about downpours, thunder and lightning a distant memory. Ultimately Stockbrook secured a narrow but comfortable 6:3 victory to set up the local derby Crondon v Stockbrook final.
Two Excellent days play, well played to all 4 teams. A real credit to yourselves, your respective clubs and to the spirit of the Jubilee Cup. Indeed it was a privilege and a pleasure to have Graham Eyles, the founding father of the competition, playing for Stockbrook in the scond semifinal and Neil Mitchell a long time Jubilee Cup committee member in attendance at the first where a tankard was presented to Neil for his long and dedicated service to the Jubilee Cup. We thank them both for all that they have done for the Jubilee Cup over the years. Thank you for your efforts and service gents.
Final live leaderboards…

The order of merit competitions are as follows
The singles order of merit was wrapped up in the first semi-final with Nick Brown (Crondon Park) taking an unassailable lead. Congratulations Nick. The pairs event is much tighter with still Richard Schultz (Lexden Wood) clinging on to his lead but three players in the final can yet deny him.
